Smoothies That Are Good For You, But They Taste Like They Shouldn’t Be!

Smoothies That Are Good For You, But They Taste Like They Shouldn’t Be!

Aren’t Smoothies Overdone?

Here is yet another smoothie recipe to post to the internet.  Probably someone out there has already done these, and I am just preaching to the choir.  But I made these this morning, and they were a hit in my household.  I even made extra!  Without further adieu, I present to you my first smoothie of the day in which I am calling Harvest Berry just because it sounded good.

Harvest Berry Smoothie

  • 1 can 15 oz. pureed pumpkin
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 cup of Splenda or no calorie sweetener
  • 12 oz strawberries, frozen or fresh
  • 12 oz blueberries, frozen or fresh
Blend ingredients in blender.  If you don’t have a high powered blender and you have frozen fruit, thaw out the fruit first. Makes about 4 servings.  Put in freezer like I did for another tasty treat!
While that one was pretty tasted and loaded with antioxidants from the blueberries, it was my second recipe I made that was the biggest hit!  My oldest son Jaiden and his daddy were all about this smoothie!  One said it was really fruity, the other said it tastes like pie or cobbler.  I say it tastes like cold preserves without the pectin.  My opinion only.  And this one, I had a much more difficult time coming up with a name.  It’s so common yet not just any name will do.  We ultimately decided on

Orange Power Smoothie

  • 1 can 15 oz. pureed pumpkin
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. maple extract (syrup will work if you don’t have it, just reduce your Splenda)
  • 1 cup of Splenda or no calorie sweetener
  • 1 12 oz peaches, frozen or fresh
  • 1 12 oz chopped mangoes, frozen or fresh
Blend ingredients in blender.  If you don’t have a high powered blender and you have frozen fruit, thaw out the fruit first. Makes about 4 servings.  Drink right away or freeze until ready to drink.

These smoothies are delicious and highly addictive!  You have been warned!  The kids and Michael say the Orange Power Smoothie tastes like pie or some kind of dessert.  I have to agree with them, but I think the Harvest Berry tastes like pie filling.  My two cents.  Remember to just add these smoothies to your recipes.  And good luck resisting the urge to drink just one.  You have been warned!  Until next time, folks.  See ya!
