Mission Statement

Our mission and our goal is that you can make life anything.  We might have found a trick or two along the way to make our lives easier, but the reality is it isn’t that hard to just add a smile, a kind word, or even add a dose of confidence to your everyday.  No, we don’t want you to be annoyingly conceited, but believing you can do something is kind of a big deal.  I didn’t think I could be a mother, an adult, or even believe I’d be alive at 32, but here I am.  I’ve had my share of adventures, and I’m certain I will share more as I develop these sites further.

I felt that I was really engaging with friends and family on Facebook, but I feel like there’s more out there that I could be doing.  I had several people in Israel who really responded to one of my posts about a grilled cheese sandwich.  Why?  I wrote that post because I was genuinely mad that an article said to never use butter to grill a grilled cheese, and when I tried it their way, it was a terrible, nasty mess!  And I got 300 hits over night on that article.  No, it’s not a lot, I admit, but I know that Just Add That could be so much more with web content as well as articles, freebies, and a shop all ready for an eager audience.  I probably won’t make a lot, but I won’t make anything if I don’t try.  And maybe at some point in time, we’ll have an email list on how you can make it blogging as well as your own online shop!  Failure, my friends, can actually be a very good thing.

What Do You Mean Failure Is Good?

We here at Just Add That literally believe that failing is great! It doesn’t feel comfortable though, and in fact, sometimes it can be humiliating. But we can choose to stay in our failures or we can choose to overcome and try again hoping for the better. While you’ll probably fail more times than you’ll succeed, you can take great comfort in knowing you have learned a better way. Failures can often lead to great opportunities that you would have possibly missed before.

Even though he’s recently had a very bad reputation, this site’s name actually came from Rick Pitino, the former UK and NBA coach that currently has been a part of a scandal at his present job at University of Louisville. I’m certain the guy is probably okay, but we’ve all gotten ourselves into our fair share of trouble. Although, mine haven’t really involved prostitution scandals. Just saying. Pitino once said, “Failure is good. It’s fertilizer. Everything I’ve learned about coaching, I’ve learned from making mistakes.” I wish I could say that I remember that quote from back in the day, but the reality is I looked up mistake quotes, and this one popped up in my search.

Pitino described exactly what I wanted to capture with this site. It’s good to make mistakes. Like he says, failure helps us grow, and we do better by making mistakes. So it’s not only okay to make a mistake or two along the way. Failure, we believe, is good.

Why Did We Start?

I have been trying to find work for a while now, probably a year at best. Most everything I have filled out are online resumes that lead to nowhere. I decided to take the old fashion approach one Saturday, and low and behold one of the local grocery stores calls and sets up an interview with me! It’s part time work, but I will be able to stay at home with my kids during the week and work for them on my weekends. Weekends you say? Am I crazy? No, I have guaranteed child care on those days where my in laws and parents alternate weekends watching the kids.  My husband and I have our own interests, and that’s okay because we still focus on each other and our kids as well.  There’s nothing wrong with us having our own special time.

So why this site? I’m not ashamed to say that I have failed. In fact, a lot of people have tried to convince me to write stories saying that I have had an exciting life. To me? I’m pretty boring if you ask me. The only reason I have any stories to tell at all are because I went out, tried something, and most of the time landed myself smack dab in the middle of a problem or even worse, trouble.  But this site is different.  Even after failing repeatedly and bumbling through not knowing a thing on what I am doing, something has come out of it.  The biggest thing is that I continue to learn something new every single day!  This blog and this site have been serious work, but the skills I have learned from them are incredible!  I wouldn’t trade any mistake for anything because I learned something out of every single mistake.
